Parallel Session 2 – Regional academic leadership development & advocacy tools for pharmacy

This session is open to pharmacy academics, educators, students and stakeholders in academia and education.

Introduction

Following the 2018 World Health Organization Astana Declaration on Primary Health Care, the global imperative for further developing pharmacy’s place in primary health care has never been stronger. The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) aims to ensure ‘’Pharmacy delivering global primary health care’’ and coordinate a concerted regional effort to progress this imperative. This session will facilitate collaboration of academic leadership in order to identify, address and monitor regional trends and needs in pharmacy education. The participants will initiate specific discussions around needs-based approaches and inter-regional commonalities for transformation in pharmacy education.  A call for action will be developed by the participants, which will be provide proof of concept and leadership model for pharmacy educators and academic leaders in other WHO regions.
